Realeyes3D was founded in September 2001 by Martin Lefébure, an expert within the fields of advanced mathematics and image processing, who had just been awarded the ANVAR Innovation Prize in the “emerging projects” category. ANVAR is the French Ministry of Industry and Research’s organization for the promotion of innovation and scientific
research.
In the spring of 2002, after the team had been leading an intensive R&D program, filed for patents to protect the core technology and its implementation in highly-constrained devices, and explored various areas for application of the newly developed technologies, Realeyes3D was again awarded the ANVAR Innovation Prize, this time in the “creation and development”
category.
In the summer of the same year, Benoit Bergeret joined Martin Lefébure as a co-founder of the company with the goal of launching it into a new phase of global development. With Benoit bringing his proven experience of strategic and entrepreneurial management, the company was positioned to become a software vendor with a clear focus on innovative imaging and messaging applications for the wireless
industry.
This newly acquired maturity was recognized in April, 2003, through the closing of a first round of financing (3M EUR), adding to the team first-class partners I-Source Gestion, Siemens Mobile Acceleration, and Partech International as new private investors. |
